throughline; Collaborations
And so, after all that winding trail of exploration I found myself here. Realising that I didn't need to wait for my skills in photography to reach the heights that I was aspiring to before I could start doing these illustrations I just started doing them over the photos of the many talented artists that have inspired me along the way.
I'd reach out and ask for permission, sometimes I'd get crickets and other times I'd be met with gleaming enthusiasm and before I knew it I was inundated with submissions from photographers from all over the world. The process has been amazing and deep dive in to the reality of just how available and open the creative community can be if you put yourself out there. There isn't some wall between the talented and successful and those who are aspiring to be so, everyone is out there working hard to make their next idea/challenge/project a reality and if you reach out to engage them and they can find the time and energy to reply, they will and from there all these collaborations came to life.
I've thoroughly enjoyed making these as often as I have bandwidth for. The collaborative process has thus far almost always been a blessing, the back and forth, the exchange of ideas, the support and well wishes have all been wonderful, however the real gold in this has been the ongoing challenge. Every photo presented it's own challenges and forced me to think carefully about how and why I was laying down lines.
